Each fall, the oak trees in my front yard scatter acorns across my lawn. The oak's design is clear: reproduce itself and grow more trees.
But the lawn is packed pretty hard: it would take softer soil, some time, and some protection, to foster that growth. And it would be inconvenient to grow another thirty, sixty, or hundred foot tall oak tree in my nice suburban lawn.
So i sweep them up ... there are so many ... and put these seeds away into a lawn-and-leaf bag for recycling, keeping my life tidy.
