No damage to our homestead in the aftermath of Isabel, other than a bunch of tree debris in the yard. We lost power for about 15 hours, which was inconvenient but not the end of the world, and far better than many of our neighbors who still lack electricity after more than 3 days. The brief power outage was actually kind of enjoyable, once you got past the point of accepting that so much of your normal lifestyle wasn't available. Mostly my daughter and i sat around candles and did some reading.
But still no cable service, hence no Internet connection! (until Tuesday) While it seems like a petty thing compared to not having power at all, it really reinforces how much the internet has become a crucial part of day-to-day life. No email, can't find information on the web, donna is cut off from the on-line component of her schooling, and tasks i'd hoped to work on over the weekend just aren't quite feasible in a disconnected lifestyle.
