Wired reports the removal of facial recognition software from the Ybor City entertainment district in Tampa, Florda. While civil libertarians were happy, the key reason is that the system didn't produce any arrests. That suggests there's a more important dimension than the privacy debate: if these systems don't do something useful, what's the point?
