And Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud,
And a young man followed him, with nothing but a linen cloth about
his body; and they seized him,
but he left the linen cloth and ran away naked.
And he bought a linen shroud, and taking him down, wrapped him in the
linen shroud, and laid him in a tomb which had been hewn out of the
rock; and he rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.
"There was a rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen and
who feasted sumptuously every day.
Then he took it down and wrapped it in a linen shroud, and laid him in
a rock-hewn tomb, where no one had ever yet been laid.
They took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the
spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews.
and stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he
did not go in.
Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; he saw
the linen cloths lying,
and the napkin, which had been on his head, not lying with the linen
cloths but rolled up in a place by itself.
and out of the temple came the seven angels with the seven plagues,
robed in pure bright linen, and their breasts girded with golden
cargo of gold, silver, jewels and pearls, fine linen, purple, silk and
scarlet, all kinds of scented wood, all articles of ivory, all articles
of costly wood, bronze, iron and marble,
"Alas, alas, for the great city that was clothed in fine linen, in
purple and scarlet, bedecked with gold, with jewels, and with pearls!
it was granted her to be clothed with fine linen, bright and pure"--
for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.
And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure,
followed him on white horses.
